Dear
Classmates,
Welcome to the Coral Gables High School Class of 1960 website. I see some of you who still live in the Miami area fairly often, a few others who live elsewhere a little less frequently, those who come to class reunions only every five years at most, and the rest of you almost never. I hope everybody who is able will plan to be here for the 50th reunion in 2010. I think of the 50th as a kind of milestone in our lives and something not to be missed. In my experience, each class reunion has been more enjoyable than the one before and I think the 45th reunion was the best ever. Everybody seemed relaxed and comfortable with one another, old friendships were renewed, and classmates who hardly knew one another in high school became new best friends. It is difficult to convey this feeling to someone who was not there, but it was as though time stood still. Everybody left with a glow, wishing it could last a little longer, and eager for the next one to start. The only thing that could have made it better is if those who were not there had been. I really missed old friends who were not there, and so did we all.
We on the committee have been working hard to get this website up and running for your enjoyment, so you can find and get in touch with fellow classmates, see photos of how we have changed over the years, and reminisce about our years at Gables High. Larry Riggenbach maintains the data base of class members and posts most of the photographs. Pete Meyers, brother of Ray Meyers of our class, created the website and has agreed to maintain it.
If you have photos of our years at Gables you would like to share, please email them to lriggenb@comcast.net or mail a copy to Larry Riggenbach, 2205 Bull Run Court, Marietta, GA 30062. Larry cannot return original photos, so send copies.
We plan to use the site to share information and news, keep everybody informed about future reunions and other events, and to help find classmates for whom we have no contact information, our "lost" or "missing" friends.
Please look over the list of "lost" classmates and help us locate them. Send photos to post for everybody to enjoy. Keep in touch with us if you move, but also if you don't move. Tell other classmates about the website and visit it often; it is a work in progress and will be improved and updated on a regular basis.
We on the committee look forward to the big "50" reunion in 2010 and hope to see everybody there.
